Carolina wren on my porch

This little friend caught my eye out on my back porch the other day. He was very calm and eventually found his way out. Look for him to appear in a painting soon!

Flounder on Blue

Flounder on Blue is a vividly colorful painting that would be an excellent fit to any collection. The primitive depiction and tranquil components capture your eye and leave you dreaming out the window, as a fishing boat in the background cruises along. The rich color and details of this catch of the day expresses Wilfred's fundamental style and imaginative appeal.

Charleston Magazine Artist Profile: Wilfred Spoon

“Children’s art has always intrigued me,” reflects painter Wilfred Spoon. “It is art in its purest form, because kids don’t know what things are supposed to look like. What they draw or paint comes straight out of their imaginations and borders on abstraction.” And the artist embraces this uniquely conceptual reality in his brightly colored paintings. From landscapes and still lifes to a canvas menagerie of elephants, bears, tigers, and birds, his work explores the dynamic spirit of seemingly primitive subjects.
